Compare the printer and its compatible material feeder as one configuration. “Multicolor compatible” does not mean the feeder is included.

Compare the printer and compatible feeder as a complete system. A shared brand name is insufficient: AMS lite, AMS 2 Pro, ACE Pro and CANVAS are not universal accessories. Slice the same colored model in each intended configuration before comparing the packages.

Does supporting more colors make a printer better?

Not for a single-color job. Additional equipment may add cost without helping the project. Use the number of colors in your files rather than the largest advertised capacity.

How do I budget purge material?

Use the slicer estimate for your actual color layout. Compare different batch sizes and keep support material in the calculation. A universal waste percentage does not describe every multicolor model.

Name the exact feeder

The A1 family uses AMS lite. P2S configurations use AMS 2 Pro; Anycubic Kobra S1 configurations use ACE Pro. Do not assume accessories are interchangeable between printer families. Check the model’s documentation and bundle contents.

Compare the sliced project

A single-nozzle color-changing workflow can add purge material and time. Slice the same model with the same color layout in the appropriate profiles to compare estimates. These estimates are not measured printing times.

Material compatibility is separate

A printer may support a flexible filament through an external path while its automatic feeder does not. Verify the exact material and feeding route, rather than relying on a generic compatibility list.
