3D printing troubleshooting: start with the symptom
Record the printer, material, profile and a photograph. Change one condition at a time and compare the same small test before replacing parts.
First layer will not hold
Start with the documented cleaning and preparation procedure for the exact build surface. Check the selected plate and material profile, then the printer’s calibration procedure. More adhesive or more heat is not a universal fix.
Fine strings between separate features
Check the material condition and the selected profile. Retraction and temperature can affect stringing, but a single setting is not suitable for all extruders. Use the printer or filament maker’s procedure and change one variable at a time.
The same file suddenly fails
Compare what changed: spool, nozzle, surface, profile or software version. Test a previously successful project before assuming hardware damage. Save both the failing and reference settings so support can reproduce the issue.
When to stop
For electrical faults, damage or operations involving disassembly, follow the model-specific service instructions. General troubleshooting advice does not replace those instructions or establish a certain diagnosis.
