Which projects is it for?
The Sonic Mega 8K S is an LCD resin printer with a 15-inch build plate and a 330 × 185 × 300 mm build volume per Phrozen, noticeably larger than the Sonic Mini 8K S or Sonic Mighty Revo from the same brand. Phrozen advertises it as able to fit up to 80 1/32-scale figurines in a single batch on its perforated plate.
This format targets batch production of figurines, miniature sellers, or workshops that want to cut down on the number of print sessions for a given batch, rather than one-off single-part printing.
Materials and setup
The printer runs compatible 405 nm UV resins for LCD/MSLA, with a ParaLED Matrix 3.0 light source advertised by Phrozen for even exposure across the full width of the 15-inch plate. The advertised layer thickness ranges from 0.01 to 0.30 mm.
The advertised 43 μm XY resolution stays coarser than the smaller screens in the lineup, such as the Sonic Mini 8K S, a logical trade-off to cover such a large build area while keeping an 8K resolution.
What the bundle includes or not
Phrozen notes that a thank-you envelope with support and warranty information ships with the printer, with a CHITUBOX Pro trial card included on some production batches. The exact box contents (resin tank, build plate, accessories) should be checked on the retailer's listing.
The all-metal drip hanger, built in per Phrozen, recovers leftover resin after printing, but the wash-and-cure station is not included by default.
Alternatives to compare
For a more compact format at a friendlier budget, the Sonic Mighty Revo covers a noticeably smaller plate with a sharper 14K resolution. To start out in resin without targeting batch production, the Sonic Mini 8K S remains Phrozen's entry-level option.
The resin printer buying guide and the resin materials guide help plan the resin budget for this production scale.
