Which projects is it for?
The Form 4L carries the Form 4's Low Force Display architecture onto a much bigger plate, with a 353 × 196 × 350 mm nominal build volume per Formlabs, 4.6 times the Form 4's volume. It suits large single-piece prints, batches of mid-size parts on one plate, or short-run manufacturing where reprinting a failed job on a smaller machine would cost too much time.
Formlabs advertises full-volume prints completing in under 6 hours, keeping production times workable for professional use despite the larger footprint, which matters for teams running the printer overnight or across shifts.
Materials and setup
The backlight unit steps up to 145 LEDs with collimating lenses and a 46 µm pixel with anti-aliasing per Formlabs, keeping curing uniform across a surface much larger than the Form 4's.
The resin library covers engineering prototyping (Tough 1500, rigid), biocompatible, ceramic, flame-retardant, and soft silicone resins, with an Open Material Mode for developers qualifying their own resins.
