Why consider it?
An enclosure included as standard with laser and CNC modules that can be added, a rare 3-in-1 combination at this build volume.
What to verify
The 400 mm maximum volume assumes a single active nozzle; in dual-nozzle mode the usable volume drops to 350 × 400 × 400 mm.

Which projects is it for?
The Artisan is an FDM printer with an enclosure included as standard, with a single-nozzle build volume of 400 × 400 × 400 mm per Snapmaker. It suits a workshop that wants to combine 3D printing, laser engraving or cutting, and CNC milling on one base rather than three separate machines.
The enclosure protects both technical-material prints and the user during laser and CNC operation, with a door-detection sensor that halts the modules when opened.
Materials and setup
Snapmaker lists compatibility with PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, TPU, breakaway PLA, PVA, HIPS, nylon, and carbon- or glass-fiber reinforced nylon, with a hotend up to 300°C and a heatbed up to 110°C on the inner zone.
In dual-nozzle printing, the usable volume drops to 350 × 400 × 400 mm per the manufacturer; each nozzle can load its own material, with no automated AMS system but a 7-inch Android touchscreen controller to manage settings.
What the bundle includes or not
Per Snapmaker's listing, the safety enclosure is included as standard, unlike the previous generation where it was optional. The laser modules (10W or 40W) and CNC module are sold separately or bundled in Premium packages depending on the configuration.
Before buying, check precisely whether a listing includes the laser and CNC modules or only the 3D printing base, since contents vary significantly between Standard and Premium versions.
Alternatives to compare
For a more compact format centered on tool-changer multicolor, the U1 is the comparison at Snapmaker. The J1s focuses on speed and IDEX dual extrusion rather than laser and CNC modules.
The FDM vs resin guide helps weigh the Artisan against a resin machine when detail matters more than multi-tool versatility.
