Creality K2 Plus nozzle wiper: tape, module and replacement
The Creality sources used here cover K2 maintenance and the K2 Plus wiper replacement procedure. They distinguish the silicone tape, which can be replaced alone, from the full module, which Creality says to replace if the metal dome is badly deformed. They do not establish a compatibility matrix across K2, K2 Pro or other printers; verify the exact part reference and fit before ordering.
The short answer
Creality's K2 Plus tutorial describes replacement of the wiper module beside the waste chute and renewal of its adhesive tape. The maintenance guide named K2 calls for tape replacement when worn and module replacement when the metal dome is badly deformed. These documents do not establish that one part reference fits every K2 variant. Identify the part and package contents before ordering; a documented replacement does not itself prove a separate retail offer.
What the wiper does and why it wears out
Creality’s K2 maintenance guide describes the wiper as the part that keeps the nozzle clean after a filament flush and says this cleaning is essential for consistent extrusion. The sources used here do not specify the toolhead movement, contact at every material change or the number of passes during a print.
Creality’s documentation distinguishes two parts: a metal dome on a shaft that should move freely, and silicone adhesive tape. It says to replace the full module if the dome is badly deformed and the tape alone if it is worn. It does not state what causes dome deformation or compare the wear rates of the two parts.
Keeping that split in mind stops you from buying a complete module when only the tape is tired. That is exactly the logic Creality applies in its maintenance guide, and it applies first and foremost to the machines the brand documents. Other printers may be built differently, and only the documentation from that manufacturer counts for them.
Matching the part to your printer and its revision
The first trap is assuming a wiper is universal. Both sources cover K2 parts, and the illustrated replacement tutorial is for the K2 Plus only. Creality calls the part a “nozzle wiper module” and lists new “adhesive tape” when replacing only the tape; this parts list does not establish that tape is sold separately.
The cited documents provide no compatibility table across K2 variants: the tutorial covers K2 Plus and the maintenance guide uses the K2 name. They do not establish that the pictured module fits another variant as-is.
The useful habit is simple. Note the exact model printed on your machine, open the part listing on the manufacturer's store, and check that your model appears in the compatibility list. If a hardware revision is mentioned, compare it to yours. When in doubt, Creality points to the online support option on its wiki page as the way to reach after-sales support.
Where the wiper sits on the K2 Plus
According to Creality's tutorial, the K2 Plus wiper module is attached to the right side of the waste chute, the area where filament purges drop. Two M3 screws on the inner side of that chute hold it in place. Once installed, the module's threaded holes must face outward, a detail the documentation calls out during reassembly.
Three smaller parts complete the assembly around the module. A pin, which Creality calls a hitch or linchpin, locks everything and has to be straightened before it comes out. A rotation shaft runs through the module and the waste shield. That waste shield sits below the wiper, with its holes aligned to the module's before the shaft slides in.
Locate the module, pin and shaft on your printer before ordering. The documents distinguish their assembly roles but do not give the contents of each retail package. If a component is missing, ask whether the exact offer includes it rather than inferring this from photos or the words complete module.
Tape or whole module: the rules Creality published
Creality’s K2 maintenance guide recommends a daily check that the metal dome moves freely and a weekly inspection of the silicone tape. It does not specify whether the printer should be cool or powered off for these checks: do not touch the nozzle area while hot, and check the model’s procedure before handling the assembly.
The decision rule in the documentation is then very clear. If the tape is worn or damaged, replace only the tape, and Creality states there is no need to change the whole module in that case. If the metal dome is badly deformed, replace the entire nozzle wiper assembly. Between those two situations, the brand simply recommends clearing debris off the tape regularly.
Those criteria concern the observed condition of the dome and tape. Residue on the nozzle alone does not establish a need to buy a wiper. Compare the part with the exact guide's criteria and use the diagnostic procedure before attributing a print defect to this component. Our clogged nozzle page covers a separate problem; it does not establish that the wiper is at fault.
The K2 Plus replacement procedure in brief
Creality's tutorial lists three things to have ready: an H2.0 hex wrench, a new nozzle wiper module, and a new adhesive tape if you are only changing the tape. For the module, removal takes four steps. Straighten the linchpin and pull it out. Remove the rotation shaft and the waste shield. Unscrew the two M3 screws on the inner side of the chute with the H2.0 wrench. Pull out the old module.
Reinstallation runs in reverse. Place the new module on the right side of the chute with the threaded holes facing outward, then fasten the two M3 screws. Position the waste shield below the wiper, align the holes, and slide the rotation shaft in. Finally insert the linchpin and bend it to lock it. This tutorial gives no numeric torque: do not infer a value, and confirm the applicable instruction if needed.
For the tape alone, Creality describes an even simpler job: carefully peel the old tape off the module base, remove the backing from the new tape, and press it firmly onto the base. The tape section describes those steps without listing module removal; check access on your printer before starting. It fits naturally into the routine covered in our guide to 3D printer maintenance.
Other printers and wear parts to check at the same time
Creality's K2 maintenance guide lists the nozzle wiper assembly among parts that naturally wear out, alongside the nozzle, the hotend, the extruder front cover, the filament cutter, and the PTFE tubes for the K2 Plus and the CFS hub. The manufacturer advises replacing worn parts promptly to prevent secondary damage to core components. If you are ordering a wiper, check those other parts in the same session.
The filament cutter is another documented wear part, but its inspection and replacement follow a separate procedure that is not covered in this guide.
For printers other than the K2 Plus, the two cited documents do not provide a replacement procedure or part compatibility. Look up the part name, location and replacement criteria in the official documentation for that exact model.
